The largest natural and historical museum in the western region of the United States sits less than 20 miles from Holiday Inn Burbank. Often referred to by its abbreviated acronym NHM, the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County presents more than 35 million species and artifacts that encompass the 4.5 billion years of earth’s history. A wide variety of special and permanent exhibitions mesmerizes visitors of all ages. The museum houses an extraordinarily large research collection both on and off site.
NHM is part of a consortium of three Los Angeles-area museums: The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, the Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits, and the William S. Hart Ranch and Museum located in Santa Clarita, California. The three museums promote the same mission, which is “to inspire wonder, discovery, and responsibility for our natural and cultural worlds.”
