Betsy Lueke Creative Arts Center Instructors Show
Art lovers have the opportunity to enjoy viewing pottery, jewelry, weaving, and painting displays during the three-week long Betsy Lueke Creative Arts Center Instructors Show. From January 5 through January 25, Holiday Inn Burbank guests have the opportunity to view the oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings created by local art instructors. Pottery exhibits include the use of a number of techniques and jewelry displays present several different styles and metals. Located nearby at 1100 West Clark Avenue, the Betsy Lueke Creative Arts Center Instructors Show is scheduled for an opening reception on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
LA Clippers Got Skills Youth Basketball Competition
Held at the McCambridge Recreation Center at 1515 N. Glenoaks Boulevard, the LA Clippers Got Skills Youth Basketball Competition encourages youth 14 years and under to hone their roundball skills in a family-friendly format. Instructors focus on developing the fundamentals of basketball, including sessions that teach shooting, rebounding, and ball-handling skills. The event starts at 3:00 pm on Saturday, January 6 and it ends at 6:00 pm. After the skills instruction clinic, a competition culminates the fun-filled event. The registration fee for the LA Clippers sponsored event is $25.
You have heard about the polar plunges that take place on New Year’s Day in frigid locations such as International Fall, Minnesota. Well, you do not have to jump into a lake full of ice chunks to enjoy a festive start to the New Year. The Burbank, California version of the polar plunge takes place on Sunday, January 7, 2018 from 11 am until noon. Enjoy diving into the comfortable water at the Verdugo Aquatic Facility located at 3201 W. Verdugo Avenue. After plunging into the warm water, enjoy an hour-long recreational swim in the Activity Pool and at the shallow end of the Main Pool. Warm up with a cup of hot chocolate and make sure to take a photo with Burrr Bear.
On January 18, 2018 the BMX Spectacular takes place at Valley Skate Park. The free event features BMX bike riders participating in several cycling competitions. All participants must sign a waiver to participate in the event, which means guests of Holiday Inn Burbank should take care of the waiver requirement before their stays at Holiday Inn Burbank. Everyone who competes in the BMX Spectacular must wear a helmet, as well as knee and elbow pads. Valley Skate Park will have BMX rentals available for use during the competitions.
