The high desert is not known for its vast supply of water, except for one spot located in Palmdale, California. Guests of Holiday Inn Burbank who want to enjoy a day sloshing around in water do not have to fight traffic to make it to a Southern California Beach. Dry Town Water Park offers a refreshingly cool alternative to baking under the desert sun.
Overview of the Park
Managed by the City of Palmdale, Dry Town Water Park opened in 2006 to rave reviews. Located in the same area as the Palmdale Oasis Park and Recreation Center, the premier water park in Antelope Valley operates from Memorial Day weekend and to Labor Day. Dry Town Water Park features six water slides, as well as a toddler water fun zone for children who do not meet the height requirement for enjoying the water slides. A couple of swimming pools and a dining area round out the amenities at the Palmdale, CA water park.
Voted the best place to visit with children in the Antelope Valley, Dry Town Water Park offers six thrilling water slides that possess unique characteristics. Hop inside of a tube and race down swift Big Rock River or move quickly on the super fast Dusty’s Mineshaft Racer. As perhaps the most exciting water slide found in the water park, Rattler’s Revenge makes a 360-degree turn inside of an enclosed tube that bursts through a tunnel into the brilliant sunshine. Young children frolic around at Little Miner’s Camp.
Height requirements for enjoying the water slides are the most important park policy for visitors to know. Guests must be 48 inches tall to ride Wildcatter, Rattler’s Revenge, and Devil’s Punch Bowl. Big Rock River and Dusty’s Mineshaft Racer have a height requirement of 42 inches. Children must be at least 36 inches tall to gain access to Little Miner’s Camp under the supervision of someone who is at least 18 years of age. Dry Town Water Park offers discounted admission rates for active military personnel who display a military ID card. Discounted admission also applies to large parties of 15 or more park visitors.
Dry Town Water Park accepts Visa, Discover, and MasterCard for paying admission fees, but not debit cards or personal checks. Admission does not include access to the Palmdale Parks and Recreation operated Oasis Pool. The water park offers tubes free of charge on a first come, first serve basis. Subway serves delicious fare at Dusty’s Grill, and there are several snack carts located throughout the park and inside of the General Store. Dry Town Water Park requires guests to wear traditional swimwear to enjoy the water slides and swimming pools. The park does not allow swimwear that includes exposed rivets, zippers, or buckles. Park management encourages guests to bring hats, towels, sunscreen, and one bottle of water.
Dry Town Water Park is located at 3850 E Ave S in Palmdale, California. Take Interstate 5 north until you reach California State Route 14, which travels through the heart of Palmdale, CA.
